Restarting the device may be a helpful solution if your OPPO smartphone is encountering problems such as an unresponsive or dark display or not powering on at all. Nonetheless, if the issue persists, there may be additional troubleshooting measures that you can try out. To learn more, continue reading the article.

Possible Reasons Why Your Phone Encounters a Black Screen

  • Long-time use of electronic products such as computers and mobile phones can cause the software to stop supporting the system of your mobile phone, which will then result in the system crashing or getting stuck.

  • Your device has been previously exposed to water and thus might have water damage.

  • Outdated applications may cause compatibility issues with your phone's system.

  • Too many applications running in the background will cause the channel of your device to be blocked, causing its operation to freeze.

  • Low memory storage can also cause your device not to boot up properly. If you've been using your phone for a long time, there is a high chance that a large amount of garbage has already accumulated in your device's memory.

How to Fix Issues with a Black/Frozen OPPO Phone Screen

Step 1: Check if the Power button and Volume button are Stuck or Damaged

Can the Power and Volume buttons on your phone be pressed? Has the phone been exposed to water or liquid recently? We recommend you go to the Service Center to get your device checked. If the buttons are working properly and the device has not been exposed to water, perform the following steps until the problem is solved:

Step 2: Force restart your phone after 15 minutes of charging

Charge your phone for 15 minutes, then press and hold the Power and Volume Up buttons for at least 10 seconds until you see the OPPO logo.

* For some OPPO smartphones, press and hold the Power button for 10 seconds.

Note: A force restart won't erase the content on your phone except those that are broken or invalid.

Step 3: Enter Recovery Mode to clear the data

Recovery Mode is also known as the ColorOS Recovery. It is a system boot made under the ColorOS system that you can use if your OPPO phone fails to restart, switch off, or update the system. Learn how to clear data in the recovery mode by reading How to Hard Reset OPPO Phone Through Recovery Mode.

Note: It's important to note that a hard reset will completely erase all content on your phone and restore it to its original factory settings.

If the abovementioned steps do not fix your concern, prepare your warranty card and contact your nearest OPPO Customer Service. You can also contact OPPO Support so we can help and assist you further with your concern. Depending on your region, you may check if you need to book an appointment before visiting your local Service Center.
