If your calendar is flooded with annoying spam like "WIN A SMARTPHONE" or "VIRUS DETECTED," don't worry, no actual viruses here! Likely, a third-party app or sketchy website is causing this. Dealing with these spam events on your Google Calendar? Check out the article below for hassle-free steps to clear the clutter and keep your schedule spam-free.

Applicable to: ColorOS 5.2 and above. Check your ColorOS version by going to [Settings] > [About Phone/ Device].

How to remove Calendar spam

  1. Open [Google Calendar] > Tap [Three Lines] at the top left corner > Unmark [Local account].

  2. Force Stop and clear data of the Calendar app

      • For ColorOS 12 and above: Go to [Settings] > [Apps] > [App management] > [Three dots] > [Show system] > [Calendar] > [Force stop] and then tap [Storage usage] > [Clear data].

      • For ColorOS 11 to ColorOS 7: Go to [Settings] > [App Management] > [App list] > [Two dots] > [Show system] > [Calendar] > [Force stop] and then tap [Storage usage] > [Clear data].

      • For ColorOS 6 to ColorOS 5.2: Go to [Settings] >[App Management] > [Show system processes] > [Calendar] > [Force stop] > and then tap [Storage usage] > [Clear data].

  3. On your computer or your phone, go to https://calendar.google.com log in with the same Google account that is logged on your phone, and tap [Settings].

    • Tap [Event settings] and choose [When I respond to the invitation in an email] under Add an invitation to my calendar.

    • Under [View Options], uncheck [Show declined events].

Settings for ColorOS 12 and above:

  • Open [Google Calendar] > Open [Settings] > [General] > Uncheck [Show declined events].

Note: If you're unable to see the settings icon while performing step 3, you can switch to desktop mode in your browser settings. You are suggested to use Google Chrome as it works best for Google Calendar. To switch to the desktop site, open any website that you want to view in desktop mode > Tap [Three dots or menu icon] > Tap [Desktop Site].

If you are still facing the issue after performing the above steps, we would suggest you perform a factory data reset after taking a backup of your device.
