Fix OPPO Phone Call Issues: Can't Make or Receive Calls

Phone call issues can sometimes be because of the signal reception of both sides. It is better to check your OPPO phone's signal strength before making or receiving a call. The signal strength in an area could be better if you have two (2) or fewer bars. For other troubleshooting steps, read on!

Note: Check your phone's ColorOS version in [Settings] > [About Phone] / [About Device].

Can't make or receive calls

The first thing to do is check if both parties are in good signal reception places and refrain from taking or receiving a call underground, in crowded places, in the elevator, or the parking lot. When the network signal is of sufficient strength (with 3 or 4 bars), please check the network settings.

Can't make or receive calls

1. Turn on and off the Airplane mode or restart your OPPO phone.

  • To turn on and off the Airplane mode: Swipe down the Control Center from your home screen and tap [Airplane Mode IconAirplane Mode] icon. If you can't see the Airplane mode icon on your Control Center, see How to Rearrange Control Center Icons.

    • Alternatively, go to [Settings] and toggle [Airplane mode] to turn on/off. Or go to [Settings] > [Connection & Sharing] and toggle [Airplane mode] to turn on/off.

  • To restart the phone: Press and hold the Power and Volume Up button for at least 8 seconds or until you see the OPPO logo.

2. Remove and re-insert the SIM card.

Use the ejector tool that comes inside the box of your OPPO phone to remove the SIM card.

3. Clear data/cache for the Phone app.

  • For ColorOS 12 to ColorOS 15 and above: Go to [Settings] > [Apps] > [App management] > [Phone] > [Storage usage] and tap [Clear data].

  • For ColorOS 7.0 to ColorOS 11.3: Go to [Settings] > [App management] > [App list] > [Phone] > [Storage usage] and tap [Clear data].

4. Check Call Settings (Call barring, Call forwarding, Fixed Dialing Numbers, Blacklist, etc.).

  • For Google's Phone app : Go to [Phone neu303 ] > tap the [Google Phone Dotted Linethree-dotted line] at the top right, and tap [Settings] > [Calling accounts] > [Operator-related settings].

For OPPO's Phone app with ColorOS 6.0 and above: Go to [Phone neu303] > tap the *[Google Phone Dotted Linethree-dotted line] or [two-dotted line] icon at the top right, and tap [Settings] > [Carrier call settings].

Note: *The icons may differ per OPPO phone model but still the same path. Please refer to the actual product.

5. Make sure to check the network signal strength.

If the signal in the area is poor (2 or fewer bars), try to make or receive calls in another location with a better signal.

6. Check your SIM card on the settings.

You may need to check the SIM card inserted on your phone if it is enabled. Go to [Settings] > [Mobile Network] / [SIM card & mobile data] / [Dual SIM & Mobile Network] / [SIM & Mobile Network], then tap a SIM card to check if it's enabled.

7. Reset APN (Access Point Names) settings.

Resetting the APN Settings essentially forces the device to re-read the information from the mobile network and your SIM card.

  • For ColorOS 7 to ColorOS 13 and above: Go to [Settings] > [Mobile Network] / [Dual SIM & Cellular Network] / [SIM card & mobile data] / [SIM and Mobile Network] > tap a SIM card > [Access point names] and at the top right, tap the [OPPO Two-dotted icon.two-dotted] / [three-dotted] icon > [Reset access points] and tap [Reset access points] again to confirm.

8. Make sure the phone's software is up to date.

Check software update by going to [Settings] > [Software Updates] / [System Updates] / [About Device].

9. Perform reset system settings.

Reset system settings will not erase any of your phone data. It will only reset the settings of your phone.

10. Cross-check with other SIMs.

If the SIM card is working on other devices except on the OPPO phone, backup data and perform a factory data reset.

11. Contact your operator

Check with your operator if your SIM card is still active and make sure that the operator's network and communications services are not in a busy state and have no temporary network failures and outages in your area to push through with your call.

If the abovementioned steps do not fix your concern, prepare your warranty card and contact your nearest OPPO Customer Service. You can also contact OPPO Support so we can help and assist you further with your concern. Depending on your region, you may check if you need to book an appointment before visiting your local Service Center.
