Why is My OPPO Phone's MMS Not Working

MMS or Multimedia Messaging Service is a message you send or receive with an attached file like images or videos. It is most likely to be sent using the credits of your SIM. However, there are times when you can't seem to send or receive an MMS on your OPPO phone, and it might be because you don't have enough SIM credits. Check the article below to know more about why your OPPO phone's MMS is not working. Read on!


Fix MMS not working on OPPO phone

Below are the steps you can do if your MMS is not working on your OPPO phone.


Ensure your phone has enough credits to send MMS

Check on your mobile network provider if you have enough credits to be able to send an MMS.


Turn on/off the Airplane mode

To turn on/off the Airplane mode, swipe down anywhere from your screen the Control Center and tap [Airplane mode]. Or go to [Settings] and toggle the [Airplane mode].


Restart the phone

To restart your phone, press and hold the Power button and the Volume Up button for at least 8 seconds or until you see the OPPO logo. 


Remove the SIM card and re-insert it

You can remove the SIM card using the ejector tool that comes with your phone. 


Wipe the cache partition on the phone

  • For ColorOS 7.0 and above: Go to [Phone Manager] > [Clean Up Storage] > [Clean].

  • For ColorOS 6.0 & 6.1: Go to [Phone Manager] > [Clean Up Storage]> [Clear all].

  • For ColorOS 5.0 to ColorOS 5.2: Go to [Phone Manager] > [Clean Storage] > [Clear All].

  • For ColorOS 3.2: Go to  [Phone Manager] > [Clean up & Accelerate] > [Clean].

  • For ColorOS 3.0 & 3.1: Go to [Files] > [Clean] > [Clean].

  • For ColorOS 2.1 and earlier: Go to [Files] > [Category] > [Cleanup]. Wait until the scanning is complete and tap [Start cleaning].

Check SMSC or Message Center number

Double-check SMSC or Message center number from Settings whether it is correct. If you are unsure of the SMSC or Message Center number, please contact your operator.


Reset APN settings

  • For ColorOS 7.0 and above: Go to [Settings] > [SIM Card & Mobile Data] / [Dual SIM & Mobile Network] / [SIM and Mobile Network], under "SIM INFO & Settings", tap a SIM card > [Access Point Names]. Tap the [2-dotted] icon at the upper right corner > [Reset access points] > and then tap [Reset access points] to confirm.  

  • For ColorOS 6.0 and below: Go to [Settings] > [Dual SIM & Mobile Network] / [SIM and Mobile Network], under "SIM INFO & Settings", tap a SIM card > [Access Point Names] and tap.

Note: Resetting the APN settings forces the device to re-read the information from the mobile network and your SIM card.

Force stop and clear cache for the Messages app

  • For ColorOS 12 and above: Go to [Settings] > [App] > [App management] and tap the [3-dotted] icon in the upper right corner > [Show system], then choose the [Messages] > [Storage usage] > [Clear Data].

  • For ColorOS 7.0 to ColorOS 11: Go to [Settings] > [App management] > [App list] > [Messages] and tap [Storage usage] > and [Clear data]. 

  • For ColorOS 5.0 to ColorOS 6.1: Go to [Settings] > [App Management] > [Messages] and tap [Storage usage] > and [Clear Data]. 

  • For ColorOS 3.1 and ColorOS 3.2: Go to [Settings] > [App Management] > [All] > [Messages] and tap [Storage usage] > and [Clear Data]. 

  • For ColorOS 3.0: Go to [Settings] > [Additional Settings] > [Application Management] > [All] > [Messages] and tap [Storage usage] > and [Clear Data].

To force stop: Follow the path provided above until [Messages], then tap [Force Stop]. Or on your home screen, tap and hold the [Messages] > [App Info] > [Force Stop].


Update the Messaging app

If the default messaging app of your OPPO phone is the Google Messages app, you can update it to solve any issues or fix some bugs. Check How to Update Applications in Google Play Store?

Note: The OPPO Messaging application is updated along with the system version update. Kindly refer below how to check for the latest software version update.


Check and update for the latest software

You can check if your phone has an update by going to [Settings] > [Software Updates] / [System Updates].
