One of the common causes of this is that OTP blocking is turned on in messages or other app settings. Try out the following troubleshooting guide below to fix the OTP or One-Time Password message issue on your OPPO phone. Read on!
Note: Check your phone's ColorOS version in [Settings] > [About Phone] / [About Device].
OTP (One-Time Password) message failed to receive on the OPPO phone
Below are some of the troubleshooting steps to guide you if you're unable to receive an OTP (One-Time Password) verification message on your OPPO phone.
1. Turn on and off Airplane Mode.
Swipe down to see the Control Center and tap the [Airplane mode] icon. If the Airplane mode icon is missing, check How to Rearrange Control Center Icons on OPPO Phone.
2. Restart the phone.
Press and hold the Power and Volume Up buttons for at least 8 seconds or until you see the OPPO logo.
3. Check if message blocking is activated and disable it.
For ColorOS 13.1 and above: Go to the [Messages] app > tap the [3-dots] icon in the upper right corner > [Block & Filter] > [Blocked Messages] > Tap the [3-dots] icon in the upper right corner > [Block & Filter] > [Block Messages] > [Block spam Messages].
For ColorOS 7.0 and above: Go to [Settings] > [Privacy] > [Block & Filter] > [Block Messages], or go to the [Messages] app > tap the [
2-dots] icon in the upper right corner > [Block & Filter] > [Blocked Messages] > tap the [
2-dots] icon in the upper right corner > [Set Rules] > [Block Messages].
* If your OPPO phone has Google Messages:
Go to [Messages] > tap the icon on the upper-left corner, then tap [Spam & Blocked] > [3-dotted] icon > [Blocked numbers].
4. Check if the OTP (One-Time Password) issue is only happening with a specific application or all applications.
If only one application is affected, uninstall and reinstall the app and check if message blocking is turned on. If the issue still persists, contact the app developer to report the issue. See How to Uninstall Applications from OPPO Phone.
5. If more than one application or all applications are affected.
Insert your SIM card into another device, and check if you can receive OTP (One-Time Password). If not, try to insert another SIM card on your phone and see if you can receive the OTP (One-Time Password) from that SIM.
5. Contact your network carrier to check if OTP blocking is activated.
If the issue is not caused by the SIM card, application, or network carrier, please bring your phone to the OPPO customer service center for inspection.
Note: Before visiting the service center, please back up your phone and transfer the backup files to an SD card or external storage to avoid data loss.
If the abovementioned steps do not fix your concern, prepare your warranty card and contact your nearest OPPO Customer Service. You can also contact OPPO Support so we can help and assist you further with your concern. Depending on your region, you may check if you need to book an appointment before visiting your local Service Center.
