Safeguard Yourself and Your Devices on Public Wi-Fi

Free public Wi-Fi networks are convenient but do not forget that you are not the only one connected to the network. So here are some dos and don'ts when using public Wi-Fi.

How to keep safe when connecting to a Public Wi-Fi

1. Make sure to only connect to secured public networks that require a login password or registration.

2. Use HTTPS (where possible) when browsing. HTTPS encrypts data passed from your computer to the network, so it’s safe.

3. Don't access personal bank accounts, login passwords, or other sensitive personal data on public networks. That includes online shopping too!

4. Turn off network sharing and automatic connectivity for Wi-Fi on your phone, especially when you are traveling to unfamiliar places.

5. Use a VPN  to encrypt your network connection and keep your data secure.

6. Turn off your phone's Bluetooth function in public places to avoid potential hackers from gaining access to your devices.

Taken all these precautions? Now go enjoy a worry-free Wi-Fi experience at your local coffee shop.
