How to Protect Yourself and Your Devices When Using Public Wi-Fi?

Public Wi-Fi is now everywhere, enabling you to instantly reply to messages or catch up with assignments. But connecting to a public Wi-Fi network is less secure than to a private one because you don't know who owns it or who else is connecting to it.

So here are a list of precautions you need to follow before or while on a public Wi-Fi.

• Make sure to only connect to secured public networks that require login password or registration.

• Use HTTPS (where possible) when browsing. HTTPS encrypts data passed from your computer to the network, so it's safe.

• Don't access personal bank accounts, login passwords or other sensitive personal data on public networks. That includes online shopping too!

• Turn off network sharing and automatic connectivity for Wi-Fi on your phone, especially when you are traveling to unfamiliar places.

• Use a VPN  to encrypt your network connection and keep your data secure.

• Turn off your phone's Bluetooth function in public places to avoid potential hackers from gaining access to your devices.
