Ways to Protect Your Eyes When Using Smartphones
In an era dominated by smartphones, our constant interaction with these devices has raised concerns about the potential impact on our eyesight. As we immerse ourselves in the digital realm, it becomes crucial to prioritize the well-being of our eyes. This article explores practical steps and strategies to protect your eyes while using smartphones, offering insights into reducing the strain caused by prolonged screen exposure.
Applicable to: Devices with ColorOS 7 and above. Check your ColorOS version in [Settings] > [About Phone].
Use Dark Mode, which lessens eye strain, especially when exposed to a dim environment.
Enable Eye Care, which reduces the blue light from the screen and prevents eye strain.
Enable OSIE (Object and Semantic Images and Eye-tracking) Visual Effects, which is an Artificial Intelligence (AI) that will track eye movement with precision. Less strain on eyes.
Enable Grayscale, which curbs or lessens device addiction. It turns everything on your home screen gray. The scientific reason behind this is that the gray color is said to be boring. The dullness of the color makes you not want to check your phone from time to time.
Enable Focus mode, which is one of the features of the Digital Wellbeing & Parental Controls. Focus Mode lets you manage and temporarily shut down apps that you think are a distraction. You won't get notifications from there, which can shift your focus away from the phone.
The best of them all is to give your eyes some rest. Unplug. Close your eyes. Relax. Meditate.
The fastest way to enable these features is through the Control Center. On the home screen of your device, swipe down from the very top of any screen, and you'll see the shortcut.
Note: All features are available in ColorOS 7. For lower versions, availability may depend on the model and the ColorOS version.
