Issues When Watching Video: No Audio, Lagging, Can't Use Video Player

Watching an intense movie scene or jamming to your favourite song but suddenly experiencing audio lag? Sounds like a big mood buzz that can ruin the whole experience! If this is happening to your OPPO Device, here are some simple troubleshooting tips you can try to remotely fix the issue so that you can click play and resume.

Applicable to: All OPPO Smartphone.

Here are some scenarios you may encounter and the troubleshooting you can do:

Scenario 1: If your video doesn't have any audio.

1. Adjust the volume to the maximum.

For ColorOS 2.1 to 3.2, go to [Settings] > [Sound] > [Volumes] > [Music, video, games & other media] to set the volume at maximum.

For ColorOS 5.0 and above: Go to [Settings] > [Sound and Vibration] > [Volumes] > choose [Media] and set it to the maximum volume.

2. Switch to OPPO's video player when playing local videos. Go to [Files] > [Categories] > [Videos], select one, and play it with [Video] or [Video (System].

3. Check if your phone is updated to the latest version in [Settings] > [Software Updates] or [System Updates] and update your phone to the latest version.

Scenario 2: If your phone is lagging while playing videos.

  • While playing online videos: Check if the network is in good condition. Switch network connection and see if this adjusts the video's clarity.

  • When playing local videos: Switch to OPPO's video player. Go to [File] > [Videos],  select one, and choose [Video] or [Video (System] to play it.

Scenario 3: If you are not able to use OPPO's Video player.

  • Restart your phone and check if the network is in good condition.

  • Switch network connection and see if this will help you use the video player.

  • Use third-party video player like VLC to play the video and to check if the video file is damaged;

  • If the video file is undamaged, try to clear data and cache:

* For ColorOS 3.0 and below, go to [Settings] > [Addtional Settings] > [Application management] > [All] > [Video].

* For ColorOS 3.1 to 5.1, go to [Settings] > [App Management] > [All] > [Video].

* For ColorOS 5.2 and above, go to [Settings] > [App management] > [App list] > [] > [Show system] > [Video].

Scenario 4: If you cannot use the other video players to play video like MX or VLC player

  • If you have set an OPPO video player as a default video player, your phone will only play videos with the default video player.

  • If you want to use another video player like MX or VLC Player to play videos, you can follow these steps: Go to [Settings] > [App management] > [All] and find the default video player, tap [Open by default] to [Clear Defaults].

* In some devices, you may need to go to [Settings] > [Additional Settings] > [App management] > [All]. Go to [Files] > [Videos], select one and play it with the video player as you need.

*Online video apps like YouTube requires the Internet. But other third-party video players like MX or VLC normally play offline videos.

If the above steps did not fix your concern, kindly contact OPPO Support Team, or take your phone, proof of purchase, and warranty card to a nearby OPPO Customer Service Center for further assistance.

* Pictures, settings, and paths might differ from those of your phone, but that does not affect the description in this article.
