How to Fix Hotspot Connection

In this article, we will learn how to easily solve the Hotspot malfunction issue.


Applicable to: Devices with ColorOS 12 and above. Check your ColorOS version in [Settings] > [About Phone]/[About device].


Steps You Can Follow to Solve The Hotspot Connectivity Issue


Number of Connections

  •  Open [Settings] > [Connection & sharing] > [Personal Hotspot] > [Connection Management] > [Device connection limit].

Note: This could be a reason if the limit is set to less number of users then more accounts will not be connected) – Limit is from 1 connection to 10 connections

 Data usage limit 

  •  Open [Settings] > [Connection & sharing] > [Personal Hotspot] > [Connection Management] > [Data Usage limit].

Note: This could be a reason if the limit is set for fewer data and the same is already consumed then the personal hotspot will automatically turn off once the data limit is reached. The limit is from 1GB to 10GB and can also be set to Unrestricted

Blacklist Connections

  •  Open [Settings] > [Connection & sharing] > [Personal Hotspot] > [Connection Management] > [Blacklist].

Note: Remove the device from the blacklist which you are trying to connect with Hotspot.


Automatically turn off personal hotspot

  •  Open [Settings] > [Connection & sharing] > [Personal Hotspot] > [Automatically Turn off personal hotspot] > [Disable].


Check the Hotspot Password

  • Open [Settings] > [Connection & sharing] > [Personal Hotspot] > [Hotspot settings] > [Change the password].


More Settings

  1. Check network coverage and data plan in your SIM or Wi-Fi:* Make sure you have adequate network coverage in your area. Poor coverage can affect hotspot functionality.

  2. Update software:* Ensure your phone's software is up to date. Sometimes, software updates include fixes for connectivity issues.

  3. Reset network settings:* Resetting network settings can sometimes resolve connectivity issues. Go to [Settings] > [System] > [Reset] > [Reset Network Settings].

  4. Perform Clear data of Wireless connection restart the device and then start connecting the Hotspot
