How to Exit the Recovery Mode on OPPO Phone
If your OPPO smartphone suddenly crashes or becomes unresponsive while in Recovery Mode, it may be due to temporary system glitches or interrupted processes. Recovery Mode is a built-in tool used for troubleshooting, but when the phone gets stuck in this mode, it can prevent normal use. One of the simplest ways to fix this is by restarting the device, which helps clear temporary files and resets the system. This article explains what Recovery Mode is, why your phone might freeze in it, and what steps you can take to safely exit and restore your device to normal.
Step-by-Step: Exit Recovery Mode
1. Check Your Phone’s Buttons
Make sure the Power and Volume buttons are working and not physically stuck.
If a button is unresponsive or jammed, try pressing it a few times.
If the problem persists, your device may need repair. Visit an OPPO Service Center.
2. Remove Your Phone Case
An ill-fitting phone case might press on the buttons, preventing proper function.
Remove the case and try again. If it fixes the issue, replace it with a case that fits correctly.
3. Reboot Your Phone from Recovery Mode
If the buttons are fine, try restarting your phone directly from Recovery Mode:
For ColorOS 7.0 and above: Tap [Reboot Device] > then tap [Yes].
For ColorOS 6.1 and below: Tap [Reboot] on the Recovery Mode screen.
What If Rebooting Doesn’t Work
If your phone stays in Recovery Mode even after rebooting, you can try wiping data as a last resort. This removes corrupted files or apps that may be causing the issue.
Wipe Data (Use with Caution)
This will delete most app-related data, but your SMS, Contacts, and Photos will be kept.
For ColorOS 7.0 and above: Tap [Format Data] > enter the on-screen verification code > wait for the process to finish.
For ColorOS 6.1 and below: Tap [Wipe Data] > enter your lock screen password (if asked) > Select [Wipe data (Keep SMS, Contacts, and Photos)] > tap [OK]. Once complete, tap [OK] and reboot the phone.
Still Stuck in Recovery Mode
If you’ve tried all the steps and your phone won’t exit Recovery Mode:
Bring your warranty card and phone when visiting a service location.
In some areas, you may need to book an appointment before going.
Check with your local OPPO Support page for details.
