Special App Access in ColorOS 11
The ColorOS 11 introduces Special app access that allows an app to do more than the standard permissions, such as using the camera, microphone, location, etc. These permissions include modifying a system setting allowing an app to read the current system settings, enabling Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, changing brightness or volume level, and more. Notification access allows the app to read the notifications sent by system apps or installed apps. Usage access grants an app to track what apps you use and how frequently you use them. Options in Special App Access Settings
Modify System Settings: This allows an app to modify system settings. If an application can modify system settings, it can see your current settings and perform operations such as turning on the Wi-Fi & Bluetooth, setting brightness, screen timeout duration, and many more.
Notification Access: Once this permission is allowed, the application will be able to access the notification received by the system or any third-party app, they can clear these notifications or perform actions on them. Before granting this permission, ensure the application is trusted as notifications usually contain personal information such as OTP, banking details, contacts, etc. You should not grant this permission to unknown applications.
Usage Access: Once this permission is allowed to an app, it can access the list of apps and how frequently are they being used by you. For example, Digital Wellbeing shows you a dashboard of time spent on an app, the number of notifications received, number of times it is opened. It is suggested to grant this permission to only those apps which are trusted.
Files Access: This enables the app to read, modify, and delete files on this device. If this permission is turned on, this app can access all your files without your prior consent.
Wi-Fi control: This allows an app to turn the Wi-Fi on or off, scan, and connect to Wi-Fi networks, add or remove networks or start a local-only hotspot.
