The special app access feature empowers you to control what information you share with each app, enhancing your experience while keeping your data secure. Allowing you to choose specific permissions helps apps function better without compromising your privacy. How To Use Special App Access

You can check out the Special app access on your ColorOS 15 through the path below:

  • Go to [Settings] > Tap on [Apps] > Select [Special app access].

  • Modify system settings: This allows an app to modify system settings. Suppose an application is permitted to modify system settings. In that case, it can see your current settings and perform operations such as turning on the Wi-Fi & Bluetooth, setting brightness, screen timeout duration, and many more.

  • Device & app notifications: Once this permission is allowed, the application will be able to access the notification received by the system or any third-party app, they can clear these notifications or perform actions on them. Before granting this permission, ensure the application is trusted as notifications usually contain personal information such as OTP, banking details, contacts, etc. You should not grant this permission to unknown applications.

  • Usage access: Once this permission is allowed to an app, it can access the list of apps and how frequently are they being used by you. For example, Digital Wellbeing shows you a dashboard of time spent on an app, the number of notifications received, number of times it is opened. It is suggested to grant this permission to only those apps that are trusted.

  • All Files Access: This permission allows an app to read, modify and delete all files on your device.

  • NFC launch:  This feature helps you connect the device via NFC.

  • All file access: This enables the app to read, modify, and delete files on this device. If this permission is turned on, this app can access all your files without your prior consent.

  • Premium SMS access: Activating Premium SMS services allows users access to content and services offered by third-party companies other than your phone provider. Premium SMS is commonly used as a way for people to participate in Television (TV) competitions, promotions, and live voting.

  • Wi-Fi controlThis allows an app to turn the Wi-Fi on or off, scan, and connect to Wi-Fi networks, add or remove networks, or start a local-only hotspot. 

  • Media management apps: This permission allows an app to modify or delete media files created by other apps without asking for consent each time.

  • Display over other apps: This access allows an app to display its content on top of other apps or the device's home screen.

  • Send full-screen notifications: This permission allows an app to take up the whole screen when sending important notifications.

  • Alarma & notifications: This permission allows an app to set alarms and schedule time-sensitive actions.

  • Turn screen on: Allow an app to turn the screen on. If granted, the app may turn on the screen without your explicit intent.
