In rare instances when you receive calls, your OPPO phone rings and vibrates, but the phone screen doesn't turn on, and you are unable to see the caller information on the display. A software glitch can cause this issue. A temporary quick fix to see who is calling when the display doesn't show is to open the Phone app. If the issue continues during the next incoming call, try these six troubleshooting steps to fix the phone not turning on when receiving calls issue. Read on!

Screen not turning on for incoming calls

Restart the phone

Press and hold both the Power and Volume Up buttons for at least eight seconds until you see the OPPO logo.

Remove the phone case and screen protector

Third-party screen protectors and cases may block the sensor and should be removed. We recommend our customers only to use the original case and screen protector.

Perform Component Check/Common Problems Detection

Check for sensor error using Common Problems Detection in Phone Manager. If detection results for Light Sensor returns Error or Not Detected, contact OPPO Support Team or take your phone to the service center.

Note: This option is only available for ColorOS 3.2 and above devices.

For ColorOS 12 and above

  1. Go to [Tools] folder > [Phone Manager] > [┆] > [Diagnostics

For ColorOS 11:

For ColorOS 6.1 to 7.2

Go to [Phone Manager] >  [Quick Check] > [Start Check]. Select [Sensors] and disable other components. Tap [Check] and follow the on-screen instructions to check if your Light Sensor works properly.

Use default Phone app and lock screen apps

Uninstall third-party call or lock screen application and use the default Phone app or lock screen passcode.

Update the phone software

Go to [Settings] > [Software Updates] and update your phone to the latest software version.

* DO NOT root your phone yourself, for that might affect phone’s system performance, and the warranty service will be terminated.

Reset the phone system settings

Go to [Settings] > [Additional Settings] > [Backup and Reset] > [Reset to Factory Settings] > [Reset System Settings Only]. (This option is available with devices ColorOS 3.2 and above).

Note: This option will reset all system settings without deleting any data or media files.

Reset the phone to factory settings

Back up and transfer your data, then perform factory data reset. Go to [Settings] > [Additional Settings] > [Backup and Reset] > [Reset to Factory Settings] > [Erase All Data]/[Erase All Content and Settings] and follow the onscreen instructions to restore your phone to its factory settings.

Note: Factory data reset will completely WIPE all the data on your phone. Before erasing all data, always make an external backup of your device because once you wipe the device, data cannot be restored.

If the abovementioned steps do not fix your concern, prepare your warranty card and contact your nearest OPPO Customer Service. You can also contact OPPO Support so we can help and assist you further with your concern. Depending on your region, you may check if you need to book an appointment before visiting your local Service Center. In case there’s no OPPO Service Center in the country where you are located, kindly contact our Customer Support to help you unlock the device.
