How to Use Mobile Data and Data Roaming When Traveling
If you plan on traveling abroad soon, then you may have thought of using your mobile data while you are overseas. Have you wondered how you can get the best out of your mobile data and data roaming plan? Here are some helpful tips on how to enable the data roaming option on your OPPO phone and make the most of it!
Reminder
You will pay high fees when using "Mobile data" and "Data roaming" abroad without an international data roaming plan.
Go to [Settings] > [Dual SIM and mobile network], turn off [Mobile data] and [Data roaming].
* Once turn them off, you will not see the mobile data icon on the status bar of your display.
Start using "Mobile data" and "Data roaming"
If you need to use a mobile data network abroad, prepare ahead:
Shop or subscribe to international data roaming plans with your operator
Before you go: Consult your operator or visit online to shop roaming plans used in the destination country or region or subscribe to international data roaming service.
After arrival: Go to [Settings] > [Dual SIM and mobile network] > [Data roaming] and complete other settings recommended by your operator. When needed, turn on [Mobile data] for network connection.
* If you exceed the data plan, you will be charged extra roaming fees. You can set up "Mobile data usage" to monitor usage status.
Buy or rent local Nano SIM cards
* International Nano-SIM cards can be inserted and used in OPPO smartphones.
Before you go: You can buy or rent SIM cards for most of the countries and regions. Learn the information related to your destination from travel guides, websites or consult your guide.
After arrival: Replace your current SIM card with the local one, and use the mobile data network reasonably according to the local charging standard.
* To use local SIM cards, you need an international or unlocked OPPO smartphone. Contact OPPO Service and Support Team for more information.
* Use the original SIM card to ensure the normal use of your phone when you return home.
If you have other data roaming issues
If you have other data roaming issues, try the following steps:
Contact your operator and make sure you have subscribed international data roaming service.
Make sure your phone has Internet and communication signals, and both [Mobile data] and [Data roaming] are on.
Turn on [Airplane mode] for about 30 seconds, then turn it off. Or restart your phone to change the network operating mode automatically.
If you use an OPPO phone with ColorOS 2.1 or 3.0, go to [Settings] > [Dual SIM and mobile network] > [Update APN with network on].
Replace your SIM card with another one and try again.
You can buy or rent a local portable Wi-Fi transmitter for Wi-Fi network connection.
