Safeguarding your personal information is more important than ever, and OPPO makes it easier with built-in privacy features. For devices running ColorOS 5.1 and above, you can set up security questions to help recover your App Lock password in case you forget it. This guide provides clear, step-by-step instructions on how to configure your security question, along with tips to ensure your data stays protected and accessible only to you.

Why Set Up a Security Question

Setting up a security question provides a backup method to retrieve your App Lock password in case you forget it. However, it’s crucial to remember the question and answer, as OPPO does not store personal/private data, including your Privacy Password.

Please remember the security question you will set up, as we don't store personal/private data, like passwords, in case you forget your Privacy password.

  1. Go to [Settings] > [Fingerprint, Face & Password] > [Privacy Password] or [Set Privacy Password].

  2. Enter the privacy password or set the password if you have not set any.

  3. Tap [Security Question] and enter the privacy password.

  4. Tap the current question displayed to select a security question. You can also customize the question.

Tips for Setting Up a Security Question

  • Choose a Memorable Answer: Pick a question and answer that are easy for you to remember but difficult for others to guess.

  • Avoid Sharing the Answer: Keep the answer confidential to maintain the security of your Privacy Password.

  • Double-Check Your Input: Ensure the answer is typed correctly before saving it.

Notes:

  • The settings and options might differ slightly depending on your device model or ColorOS version, but the general steps remain the same.

  • If you forget both your Privacy Password and the answer to your security question, you may need to contact OPPO support or visit a service center for assistance.
