Want to capture your screen activity—whether it’s a tutorial, a game, or an app walkthrough? OPPO’s built-in screen recording feature makes it easy to record everything happening on your display, complete with sound and touchpoint visuals. This guide will walk you through the steps to start, customize, and save screen recordings on OPPO smartphones running ColorOS 7.0 and above.

Note: Screen recording is not available in ColorOS 3.2 and below. Check your ColorOS version in [Settings] > [About Phone] / [About Device].

How to enable screen recording

Enable screen recording via Control Center

Swipe down from the top of the screen to open Control Center > then tap [Screen recording] and a screen recording toolbar will appear.

  • To start recording: Tap the [OPPO Screen Record Button Record] button. When you are done recording > tap the [Stop] icon on the screen, and the following notification "The screen recording file has been saved," will appear in the notification center > tap the notification to view your video or go to your [Photos] to check your screen recording file.

Note: If you can't find the Screen Recording icon on your device's Control Center, go to this article How to Rearrange Control Center Icons.

Enable screen recording via Smart Sidebar

Swipe the white vertical line from right to left to see Smart Sidebar and tap [OPPO Screen Recording IconScreen recording], and a screen recording toolbar will appear. To start recording, tap the [OPPO Screen Record Button Record] button.

Note: Smart Sidebar is only applicable for ColorOS 5.2 and above.

Tips:

  1. Screen recording will automatically stop when the screen is turned off. The phone is powered off or after 30 minutes.

  2. If the Smart Sidebar is not on your screen, see OPPO Smart Sidebar

Note:

  • Each screen recording is limited to a maximum of 30 minutes.

  • The sound through Screen Recording is unavailable when another channel or application uses the microphone feature. This explains why there's no sound from screen recording during a video call. You can only use the voice and recording from your microphone one channel or application at a time.

Edit screen recording

Go to [Photos] > [Albums] and look for the [Video] folder. Choose the screen recording that you’ve just taken, tap [Edit], and you can choose to crop, add filters or special effects, soundtrack, text, and watermark on the video.

Record with sound

Try the following steps below to screen record with sound.

  • For ColorOS 12 and above: Go to [Settings] > [System settings]/ [Additional settings] /[ Accessibility&convenience] > [Screen recording] > choose if you want to record the system sound or microphone sound.

  • For ColorOS 7.0 to 11.1: Go to [Settings] > [Convenience tool]/ [Additional settings] > [Screen recording] and choose if you want to record the system sound or microphone sound.

NoteIf your OPPO device doesn't have the record system sound feature, you can check for software updates by going to [Settings] > [Software update] / [System updates], then update your device.
