How to Back Up Your OPPO Phone to a Computer

If your OPPO phone is running slowly or having problems such as crashes, unexpected reboots, or not working properly, you might want to consider performing a factory data reset. This action will erase all files and applications on your device. For this reason, it's important to back up your data to avoid any losses. One recommended backup method is using your computer. Follow the detailed guide below to learn how to back up your phone via your computer.


Note: Check your phone's ColorOS version in [Settings] > [About Phone] / [About Device].


Steps to Back Up Your OPPO Phone to Computer

Step 1. Back up your phone

  • For ColorOS 13 and above: Go to [Settings] > [Additional settings] > [Back up and reset] > [Back up & migrate] > [Local backup] > [New backup], then select the data you want to back up > [Start], wait for a while and tap [Done].

  • For ColorOS 7.0 to ColorOS 12: Go to [Settings] > [Additional settings] > [Back up and reset] > [Back up & restore]> [New backup] > select the data you want to back up > [Start] > [Back Up] and tap [Done].

Step 2. Transfer the backup file from phone storage to computer

1. On your OPPO phone, enable USB debugging. To see the USB debugging option, you will need to enter Developer Mode.

  • For ColorOS 7 to ColorOS 13 and above: Go to [Settings] > [About Phone]/ [About Device] > [Version] and tap [Build number] for seven (7) times, and key in your lockscreen password and you will get a prompt saying "You are now in Developer mode!"

    • To allow USB Debugging: 

      • Go to [Settings] > [Additional Settings] > [Developer Options] > toggle [USB Debugging] > tap [OK] to enable.

2. Connect your phone to your computer with a compatible USB cable.

3. On your phone, choose [Transfer Files] when prompted “Use USB To."


4. On your computer, go to your [Files Explorer] > and look for your OPPO phone model name, then click [Internal shared storage].

5. Once you're in the Internal shared storage folder, look for the [Backup] file, then right-click and copy and paste the [Backup] folder to your computer.

6. To backup other folders like Photos, Music, Movies and etc., look for the folders you want to back up, right-click, copy and paste the [DCIM], [Movies], and [Music] folders to your computer.


Note: All data in Phone Storage including Backup will be ERASED when you flash the phone, wipe data, or reset the OPPO smartphone to factory settings.
