File Sharing: How to Share Files to a Computer in OPPO Phones
OPPO phones come with several features that make it easy to share data with other devices. You can use Quick Share, OPPO Share, FTP, and more to share data with other smartphones. Your OPPO phone also allows you to quickly share data with computers. Sharing files between your phone and computers serves several purposes such as multitasking, freeing up space on your phone, securing documents, and backing up your phone. In addition to sharing files via a USB data cable, you can use other modes such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, USB card readers, and PC Connect. Check out the article below to learn how to share files between your phone and computer.
Applicable to: ColorOS 6.0 and above. Check your ColorOS version in [Settings] > [About phone/ About device].
Transfer Files Via USB Cable
Before anything else, you need to prepare your OPPO Smartphone, your computer, and your USB data cable as well. Take note that you need to double-check if the cable you have is capable of transferring files. It is recommended to use the same USB Cable which was provided with your OPPO phone. If you've got these all checked, proceed to do the following steps:
Make sure your PC is turned on and unlocked. Your computer must be updated to the latest version.
Attach the data cable to your OPPO Smartphone and your computer.
You will be prompted to choose among the below options(Names may vary by model and ColorOS version):
[Charge Only] - Your computer will serve as a power bank, and you won’t be able to access the files on your device.
[Transfer Files / Android Auto] - You can access all of the files on your device, including the files of specific applications.
[Transfer Photos] - Only your device’s stored photos and videos are accessible during this mode.
Make sure you choose between [Transfer Files / Android Auto] and [Transfer Photos] to be able to connect your OPPO Smartphone to your computer.
Once you’ve successfully connected your OPPO Smartphone to your computer, your computer will notify you about the connection. You can open [This PC] or [My Computer] on your PC to view and access the available disks and connected devices.
What to do if your PC is Unable to Detect Your Phone
Check the USB Cable
Check your USB cable for signs of damage, like breakage or bent prongs. Use another cable to check if it can be detected by your computer.
Switch the USB port or Computer
Use another USB port on your computer to check if the problem can be solved. And if you can, try it with another computer/PC.
Restart Both The Phone And Computer
Restart the computer & phone and try it again. To restart your OPPO phone, press and hold the Power button and the Volume Up button for at least 8 seconds or until you see the OPPO logo appears. To turn the phone back on, press and hold the Power button until you see the OPPO logo.
Updating The Software Version
Make sure your phone and computer are updated to the latest version. To update your phone to the latest version, go to [Settings] > [Software update].
Cross-check With Other Computers
If you have access to another computer, you can check if the problem is from the phone's end or the computer's.
Reset The Phone System Settings
Performing a factory settings reset will not delete any system or app data. See How to Factory Reset an OPPO phone.
Note: Make sure that the USB cable you are using is capable of file transfer. USB cable which supports only charging won't be detected by your computer.
