Why Is the GPS Signal Weak?

 

Situation: Your phone is unable to find a location or showing inaccurate location on the map when using GPS.

Applicable to: All OPPO Smartphones.

Some of the factors that could affect the accuracy of GPS include:

• Walls, tall buildings, vehicle roofs or other obstructions blocking GPS signal

• Crowded area

• Poor network connection

• Rainy weather

• Metal

Move to a wide-open place to check if the signal has improved. If no, follow these steps to help improve your signal:

1. Go to [Settings] > [Device & Privacy] > [Location]. Ensure [Location Service] is toggled on, and select [High Accuracy] for LOCATING MODE.

In some devices,  you may need to go to [Settings] > [Additional Settings] > [Security & Privacy] > [Location].

Note: High Accuracy mode uses GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and mobile network to determine location.

2. Check if the network connection is stable. If no, connect to another available network.

3. Update your phone software to the latest version. Go to [Settings] > [Software Updates].

4. Update the Google Play Store app. Having the latest Google Play Store is important for apps using location services like Maps, Weather, Camera, Gallery, etc.

5. Restart the phone.

If the issue persists, contact OPPO Support Team, or take your phone, proof of purchase and warranty card to a nearby OPPO Customer Service Center for professional assistance.
