If you're looking for an easy way to share files or make contactless payments, try using the NFC feature on your OPPO phone. In this guide, we will show you how to turn it on and use it for quick file sharing with other Android devices.

Note: Available only for OPPO phones with the NFC feature. The NFC feature availability may vary across phone models, regions, and mobile network carriers. Please check the phone specifications on your local OPPO website.

What is NFC

NFC, or Near-field communication, is a wireless technology that allows devices to share information simply by placing them next to each other. You can use NFC to send files, photos, and videos, transfer contacts, share apps, and make contactless payments between NFC-enabled mobile devices.

How to Enable NFC

  1. Go to [Settings].

  2. Tap [Other Wireless Connections] / [Connection & sharing/ [Device Connect].

  3. Toggle on [NFC].

  4. This should automatically enable Android Beam. If not, tap [Android Beam] and toggle on to activate.

What to Do If NFC is Unresponsive

Perform the following if your OPPO smartphone's NFC is not responding/ fails to pay when being used as a payment method (Tap & Pay):

Make sure that the NFC is enabled

For ColorOS 16 and above:

Go to [Settings] > [Device Connect]  and toggle on [NFC].

  • In some OPPO devices, you can go to [Settings] > [Other Wireless Connections] / [Connection & sharing], and toggle on [NFC].

Set Default Payment

For ColorOS 16 and above:

Go to [Settings] > [Device Connect] and toggle on [NFC][Payment & access badge] > [Default payment app].

  • In some devices, you can go to [Settings] > [Other Wireless Connections] / [Connection & sharing] / [Device Connect] > [NFC] > [Tap & pay] > [Default payment app].

Note: If users cannot set the ‘Default Payment app,’ it means that no payment app is installed. Please download payment apps like PayPal and Google Pay first.

  • If you use a third-party application such as JD pay, you must also select JD pay as the default payment application in the NFC payment application. The third-party application currently only supports unlocking and swiping the card for consumption.

Position Your Phone Correctly for NFC Tapping

Use the exact location on your smartphone when tapping on the payment device. Usually, the phone's NFC tag is located in the upper middle part of the back (below the camera).

What to Do If NFC Cannot Be Enabled?

If your OPPO smartphone's NFC feature fails to turn on, perform a factory reset. If this does not fix your concern, prepare your warranty card and contact your nearest OPPO Customer Service. You can also contact OPPO Support so we can help and assist you further with your concern. Depending on your region, you may check if you need to book an appointment before visiting your local Service Center.

Notes

  • Please check your OPPO handset specifications to know if your OPPO smartphone has this feature.

  • You will need to activate Android Beam to share certain types of data.
