What Is Emergency SOS on OPPO Phones

Want to ensure you’re prepared in emergencies? OPPO’s Emergency SOS feature allows you to quickly contact emergency services and notify your trusted contacts with just a few taps. Whether you’re in danger or need urgent help, this guide will walk you through how to set up and use Emergency SOS on your OPPO device effectively.


Note: Check your ColorOS version in [Settings] > [About Phone] / [About Device].


How to Enable Emergency SOS

  • For ColorOS 13 to ColorOS 16Go to [Settings] > [Safety & emergency] > [Emergency SOS] > [Turn on Emergency SOS].

  • For ColorOS 11 and belowGo to [Settings] > [Privacy] > [Emergency SOS].

Note: You will only be prompted by the terms & conditions if it's the first time to open or use this feature.


How to Add Emergency Contact 

You can choose from the list of your contacts and tap Add. You can add up to 3 contacts. Emergency numbers specific to your region are also pre-added.

  • For ColorOS 13 to ColorOS 16: Go to [Settings] > [Safety & emergency] > [Emergency contacts] to add a contact.

  • For ColorOS 11 and below: Go to [Settings] > [Security] > [Safety & emergency] / [Emergency SOS] > [Emergency call] > tap on [Emergency numbers] > then add the numbers you want to assign to Emergency SOS under the [Add emergency contact] > select the contact you want to add as an emergency contact


How to Delete/ Change Emergency Contacts

Tap the [-] / [x] icon to delete a contact from your Emergency Contacts.


How to Make an Emergency Call

Enable the "Press the Power Button Repeatedly for Emergency call fist before making an emergency call. 

1. Go to [Settings] > [Security] / [Safety & emergency].

2. [Emergency SOS] > [Emergency call].

3. Toggle [Press the Power Button Repeatedly For Emergency Call] / [Emergency call quick access].

4. Press the Power button repeatedly for 5 times to initiate an emergency SOS call.

After pressing the Power button 5 times, you have the following Emergency Services:

  • Emergency Numbers - You can call the emergency numbers provided on the Emergency SOS.

  • Emergency Information - Add your personal emergency information to give first responders the critical information they need.

  • SOS Flashlight - SOS light signal will be sent. IN MORSE CODE, your OPPO phone's flashlight will illuminate “S-O-S” (3x short, 3x long, 3x short).

    Note: If it's your first time using this Emergency Service, you would have to give it the necessary permission to function properly. 

  • Buzzer - Your OPPO smartphone will produce loud sounds.



Use Auto Dial the Default Number

Toggle [Auto Dial the Default Number] / [Auto call emergency services number] to green, and a 3-second countdown will be enabled. A 3-second countdown starts once you initiate an SOS emergency call. The default number will be called if nothing takes place during the countdown. 



How to Send an SOS message

Send pictures and audio recordings. Toggle [Send Pictures of Surroundings]/[Attach photos of surroundings] or [Send a 5s Audio Recording of the Surroundings]/[Attach a 5s audio recording of surroundings] to enable. 

Note: These two options only show after enabling [Send SOS Message]. If it's your first time using this Emergency Service, you would have to give it the necessary permission to function properly. 



My Emergency Contact

After an SOS emergency call, you can send an SOS message showing your current location to MY EMERGENCY CONTACT.
Note: Please note that sending an SOS message accurately still depends on your location, environmental factors, network connectivity, if GPS is available, and the conditions of you and your emergency contact’s devices (including but not limited to battery level). Also, SOS messages might generate additional charges. Please contact your carrier for details.
 

Privacy concerns

Once Emergency SOS is activated, this will automatically be permitted to:

  • Access your location.

  • Read, write, or delete external storage.

  • Read your phone status.

  • Take photos.

  • Record sounds.

  • Read your contacts.
