Exploring the OPPO SOS Emergency Feature: Your Essential Guide
OPPO has added an SOS emergency contact function and Safety & Emergency Settings to provide quick access to essential emergency features on their devices. This includes adding emergency contacts, medical information, quick access to emergency calls and messages, Google Play safety and emergency services, and wireless emergency alerts.. Safety and Emergency Settings
We need to navigate quickly on our devices in times of emergency. That's why OPPO ensured that in ColorOS 12 it will be easier for users to access the Emergency SOS function.
How to Add Emergency contacts
During an emergency, press the Power button five times, and it will take you to the Emergency SOS page that contains emergency hotlines that you can contact, including your emergency contacts.
For ColorOS 15 & Above:
Go to [Settings] > [Safety & emergency] > [Emergency contacts] > Select a contact > tap on the [Add contact].
How to Add Medical Info
Add your medical information to give first responders the critical information they need.
Go to [Settings] > [Safety & emergency] > [Medical information] > Fill up the necessary information.
Emergency calls & messages
Emergency call quick access - Press the Power button 5 times a row to make an emergency call.
Auto call emergency services - Automatically call your default emergency service number 3 seconds after you trigger Emergency SOS.
Auto sends an SMS with location - Auto sends SOS messages with your current location info to the emergency contact you just called.
Google Play safety and emergency services
To go to Google Play safety and emergency services, go to [Settings] > [Safety & emergency] > under Google Play Services you'll access the following features:
Earthquake alerts - Google innovated the Earthquake Alert System that detects seismic activity in the area using the built-in accelerometers in active smartphones. When seismic activity is detected, the device will alert the user.
Emergency Location Service - When you call or text an emergency number, your device can automatically send its location to emergency response partners.
Note: Google Play's Emergency Location Service's availability varies per region.
Wireless emergency alerts
Extreme threats - Extreme threats to life and property.
Severe threats - Severe threats to life and property.
AMBER alerts - Child abduction emergency bulletins.
Emergency alert history - View the past emergency alerts on your OPPO smartphone.
How to turn off the Emergency SOS feature
Go to: [Settings] > [Safety & Emergency] > turn off/toggle off the [Emergency SOS] feature.
