The OPPO Phone Manager or Security Center

OPPO's Phone Manager or Security Center offers you four actions to protect your phone, including Clean Storage, Privacy Permissions, Virus Scan, and Payment Protection. In ColorOS 5.0 and above, there are added functions like Wechat Cleaner and Whatsapp cleaner. The Phone manager also has Common Problem Detection or Component Check, which allows you to scan your phone for abnormalities with one tap. Continue reading the simple guide we created below to know more about this.

OPPO Phone Manager / Security Center

Make the most of your OPPO smartphone's Phone Manager/ Security Center by following the walkthrough below:

Note: For ColorOS 3.2 and below, the Phone Manager is outside the Tools folder and is located on your home screen. 


One-Touch Optimization

Open the Phone Manager/ Security Center and the system will automatically scan your phone. Once the scanning is completed, continue to optimize your phone storage. You can also select the files that need to be cleared manually.

  • For ColorOS 12 to ColorOS 13 and above: Go to the [Tools] folder on your home screen > [Phone Manager] > [Optimize] > wait for it to finish the optimization > select your desired manual optimization > tap [Done] to finalize the process.

  • For ColorOS 11 to 11.3: Go to the [Tools] folder on your home screen > then tap on [Phone Manager] > [Optimize]. Perform manual optimization as preferred and tap [Done] when complete.

  • For ColorOS 7.0 to 7.2: Go to the [Tools] folder on your home screen and tap [Phone Manager] > [One Touch Optimization] > [Done].

Privacy Permissions

Use the Privacy permissions feature to manage app permissions, protect your privacy, and manage apps that start when phone startup. 


App Permissions

Select an app and choose to accept or allow, decline/deny, or limit call, SMS, device, and privacy-related permissions. 

  • For ColorOS 13 and aboveGo to the [Tools] folder on your home screen > [Phone Manager] > [Privacy Permissions] > [Permission Manager] > choose from the following features > tap a specific application > choose whether to [Allow only while using the app], [Ask every time], and [Don't allow].

  • For ColorOS 12: Go to the [Tools] folder on your home screen > [Phone Manager] > [Permission Manager] > choose from the following features > tap a specific application > choose whether to [Allow only while using the app], [Ask every time], and [Don't allow].

  • For ColorOS 11 to 11.3: Open the [Tools] folder on your homescreen and tap [Phone Manager] > [Privacy permissions] > [Permission manager]. From the list of permissions including phone, SMS, camera, and other device-related permissions, tap [Permission] to see the list, then tap the app you wish to change its permission and choose to allow, deny or ask.

  • For ColorOS 7.1 to 7.2: Go to [Tools] folder on your homescreen and tap [Phone Manager] > [Privacy Permissions] > [App Permissions]. Tap [Apps] and select an app and toggle to accept, decline, or limit call, message, device, and privacy-related permissions.

Startup Manager

You can set up a Startup manager to start apps when the phone startup or in the background. You can also tap [Blocking Records] to block apps from auto-starting in the background which can save more power and prevent the recording of your private information. Go to the *[Tools] folder on your home screen and tap [Phone Manager] > [Privacy Permissions] > [Startup Manager] / [Auto-launch apps] > choose which apps to auto-launch.

* This option is not available on ColorOS 12 to ColorOS 13 and above on the Phone Manager application. You can go to [Settings] > [Apps] > [Auto launch] > choose which apps to auto-launch.

Note: It is recommended that you enable an application from auto-launching. Because you may not be able to receive messages when the said feature is disabled.


OPPO Auto-launch apps


Floating Windows Management

When turned on, the application message is displayed in the floating window for easy viewing and use. On your OPPO phone's [Phone Manager] > [Privacy Permissions] > [Floating Window Manager] > choose an application you want to allow.

  • For ColorOS 13 and aboveGo to [Settings] > [Apps] > [Special app access] >  [Display over other apps] > choose the applications you want to allow.

  • For ColorOS 12: Go to [Settings] > [Apps] > [Display over other apps] > choose the applications you want to allow.

Note: This setting is NOT available in ColorOS 6 and ColorOS 11's Phone Manager. In addition to this, this feature is only available to applications that support the floating window feature.


Virus Scan

For better security and experience, you can use it to scan and remove malicious software and files. On [Phone Manager] > [Virus Scan] / [Viruses/risks] > wait for it to finish scanning > [Done].

Note: The OPPO smartphone's scan time might vary. Wait patiently for it to finish scanning before you execute another task. Please also note that the Virus Scan function in the Phone Manager may vary per country/region.

Payment Protection

While you shop online, your OPPO phone will provide protection for mobile transactions, such as detecting captcha and app security. See Security of Transaction thru OPPO Payment Protection

  • For ColorOS 12 to ColorOS 13 and above: On [Phone Manager] > [Tools] > tap on [Payment protection] > choose which applications to protect. You can also view the reports by tapping on [View report].

  • For ColorOS 11 and below: On [Phone Manager] > go to [Payment Protection] > toggle the enable/disable button to enable Payment Protection. You can also choose [View report] / [View] to see if your payment environment is secured or not.

Common Problems Detection / Routine Test

Common Problem Detection (also known as Routine Test or Component Check in some devices) allows you to diagnose common phone problems and find solutions to quickly deal with them. It can auto-detect phone memory, SIM card(s), and system version and you'll also be asked to manually detect items like sensors, connections, battery and charging, physical keys, screen, camera, audio, and vibration. During the detection, you need to operate the phone as per the onscreen instructions. The settings path is different per the ColorOS version, you can check below how you can perform detection on your OPPO phone. 

  • For ColorOS 12 to ColorOS 13 and above: Go to [Phone Manager] > [Tools] > [Diagnostics] > select a function to check > [Run diagnostics] and follow the on-screen instructions.

  • For ColorOS 11 to 11.3: Go to [Phone Manager] > [Diagnostics] > [Continue]. Select a function to check, then tap [Run diagnostics] and follow the on-screen instructions. 

  • For ColorOS 6.1 to 7.2: Go to [Phone Manager] > [Quick Check] > [Start Check] / [Continue]. Select a function to check, then tap [Check] / [Run diagnostics] and follow the on-screen instructions.
