New Device Optimisation: What to Do If You Notice Battery Drain or Heating Issues
🔋 Why Does Battery Drain Happen on a New Phone?
When you start using a new OPPO device, several background tasks are happening at once:
System is optimising performance
Apps are syncing data and downloading updates
Photos, videos, and contacts are restoring
Device is learning usage patterns for better power management
All of this can temporarily increase battery usage and even cause mild heating.
🌡️ Why Does the Phone Heat Up?
Slight warmth is expected during:
Initial system setup
App downloads or updates in bulk
Long video calls or gaming sessions
Charging (especially with fast charging enabled)
This is typically not harmful and will settle down after the first few days of use.
✅ What You Can Do During the Optimisation Phase
1. Let the System Settle
Use the phone normally for a few days.
Avoid heavy gaming or long video calls during the first 48–72 hours.
2. Keep Software Updated
Go to [Settings] > [About Device] > [Software Update]
Install any available updates to improve stability and battery management.
3. Close Background Apps
Tap the Recent Apps button and clear apps running in the background.
4. Use Original Charger Only
Always charge your device using the official OPPO charger and cable for safe, optimised charging.
5. Turn Off Unused Features
Disable Bluetooth, GPS, Wi-Fi, and Hotspot when not in use.
Lower screen brightness or enable Auto-Brightness in [Settings] >[Display & brightness].
6. Enable Power Saving Mode
Go to [Settings] > [Battery] > [Power Saving Mode]to reduce background activity.
⏳ How Long Does Optimisation Take?
Your OPPO device usually completes its internal optimisation within 3–5 days. After this, you'll start noticing:
Improved battery performance
Reduced heating during regular use
Smoother multitasking and app performance
