How to Use Swipe Gestures From Both Sides in OPPO ​Phone

ColorOS provides multiple navigation methods to navigate through your phone. In ColorOS 6, two new navigation methods have been added to your OPPO phone, i.e., Swipe gestures from both sides and two-button navigation. Both these methods allow you to navigate more easily and conveniently. This navigation method is especially useful for devices with large and curved screens. You can use swipe gestures to go back, open the recent menu, go home & switch to the previous app. The new navigation gesture will provide a better visual experience that is fast and smooth to operate the phone. Follow the article below to learn more about the new swipe navigation gesture.


Note: Available for ColorOS 6 and above. Check your phone's ColorOS version in [Settings] > [About Phone] / [About Device].


Use Swipe Gestures from both sides

Below are the paths to follow per the ColorOS version.


For ColorOS 12 and above

Go to [Settings] and tap [System settings] / [Additional settings] > [System navigation] and select [Gestures].


For ColorOS 6 to ColorOS 11

Go to [Settings] and tap [Convenience tools] > [Navigation buttons] / [Navigation].

Select [Swipe gestures from both sides]. Once selected, you can swipe inward from either the bottom left or right of the screen to go back, swipe upward from the bottom of the screen to go to the home screen, swipe upward, and hold from the bottom of the screen to see the recent tasks. You can also perform other actions such as switching between recently opened applications, switching to previous apps, and hiding the gesture navigation bar.

Hide gesture guide bar

The gesture guide bar is the white bar that is shown at the bottom of your screen. You can hide it by disabling [Hide gesture guide bar].


Switch to the previous app

You can switch to the most recent app by swiping inward from the bottom left or the bottom right of the screen and then holding. To use this feature, enable [Switch to Previous App].


Note: The "Hide gesture guide bar" and "Switch to previous app" features are only available for ColorOS 11 and above. Please refer to the actual product.


Mistouch Prevention

Once enabled, to exit certain applications which are running in full screen while in landscape mode you would have to swipe twice. It prevents accidental touches. To use this feature, enable [Mistouch prevention].
