How to Resolve Issue Regarding OPPO Smartphone's Power Button
With the continuous evolution of mobile operating systems, Android 12 is a notable change to how we interact with our devices. OPPO users on ColorOS 12.1 and above may have noticed that holding the Power button no longer powers off the device; instead, it triggers Google Assistant. This article will explore the reason behind this shift and provide a solution to ensure a smooth user experience.
Google Assistant Activates When OPPO Smartphone's Power Button is Pressed
You must adapt to the new method to power off your OPPO device running ColorOS 12.1 and above. Instead of holding only the Power button, hold both the Power button and the Volume Up key simultaneously. This action will initiate the power-off sequence, allowing you to turn off your device without invoking Google Assistant.
If you prefer to power off your phone by holding down the Power button alone, you can customize this setting in the device's system settings. Here's how you can do it:
Navigate to [Settings] on your OPPO device.
Go to [System settings].
Select the [Power button].
Choose [Press and hold the power button].
In the menu that appears, select [Power menu].
When you press and hold the Power button, you will be presented with the power menu options, including the ability to power off the device.
Note: This option might not be available by default for some OPPO models, as certain models are configured to turn off by pressing and holding the power button. In such cases, you can scroll to the bottom of the Power button settings to find the Google Assistant switch. Select [turn off] to disable the Google Assistant activation when holding the Power button.
