Is your Windows 10 device not detecting or recognizing your OPPO driver? You can troubleshoot by checking the USB port connection, checking for a software update, doing USB debugging, and more! Learn more about this issue and its fixes here!

Note: Check your phone's ColorOS version in [Settings] > [About Phone] / [About Device].

Fix Windows 10 is unable to detect the OPPO driver

Below are the following steps on how you can fix this problem:

1. Check the physical connection.

  • Properly connect the phone to the device's USB port and the PC.

  • Check if the USB cable or port is loose, damaged, or broken.

  • Use the original USB cable.

  • Use other USB cables if there are any available or connect to other PCs to help isolate if it’s a PC connection issue or the phone’s USB port connection issue.

2. Check the phone's software.

  •  Make sure the phone’s software is up to date in [Settings] > [Software Update] / [System Update] / [About Device] and then restart the phone. To restart the phone, press and hold the Power and Volume up buttons for at least 8 seconds or until you see the OPPO logo.

3. Change connection code to file transfer.

  • From the home screen, swipe down the notification panel or center, tap [Charging via USB] and select [Transfer Files] (The options name may vary in different phone models but select a similar option for file transfer).

4. Enable USB Debugging.

If the computer is not showing any notification from the notification center or is unable to detect the phone, turn on USB debugging in developer mode.

  • For ColorOS 12 to ColorOS 13 and above: Go to [Settings] > [About device] > [Version] and tap [Build number] 7 times and enter your lock screen password. After that, you will see the "You are now in Developer mode" prompt.

  • For ColorOS 6.0 to ColorOS 11: Go to [Settings] > [About phone] > [Version] and tap [Build number] 7 times until you see the "You are now in Developer mode" prompt > enter your lock screen password.

* In some OPPO devices: Go to [Settings] > [About phone] > [Version] > tap [Build number] 7 times and a prompt will appear "You are now in Developer Mode".

* Another way to enable USB debugging: Go back to [Settings]> [Additional Settings] > [Developer Options] > [Enable the Developer Option] > [Enable USB Debugging].

5. Check whether the phone has been detected.

After USB debugging is enabled and the phone is successfully detected by the PC, open File Explorer and click on "This PC". There should be a phone model number or name that will appear. (E.g.: CHP1907). Click on the option and you may browse the files or phone data from there.

6. Update the USB Driver.

If the phone device is still not detected, please follow the steps below:

a) On your PC, click on the Search icon (beside the Windows logo) at the bottom left corner and type in "Device manager". Click to open Device Manager.

b) Double-click "Portable Devices" to show options, right-click on the OPPO phone model, and click on "Update driver".

c) Click "Browse my computer for driver software".

d) Click "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer" and click "Next".

e)  Select "MTP USB Device" under the model, click "Next" and "Close".

7. Reset the phone system settings.

Go to [Settings] > [Additional Settings] > [Backup and Reset] > [Reset to Factory Settings] / [Erase all data (factory reset)] / [Factory data reset] > [Reset System Settings Only]. (This option is available with devices ColorOS 3.2 and above). See How to Factory Reset an OPPO Phone.

Note: This option will reset all system settings without deleting any data or media files. There may be different terms for 'Reset to Factory Settings' like 'Erase all data (factory reset)' or 'Factory data reset' but they mean the same.
