On the home screen, go to your [Messages] app, scroll, and choose the contact you want to be on top. Long press the message of your favorite or important contact and tap [Pin on Top]. And that contact stays on top for as long as you want.

How to unpin message/ contact

Long press the contact again, tap [Unpin] and the message/contact won't be on the top anymore.
