What to Do If You Forget the Privacy Password of Your OPPO Phone
OPPO smartphones offer a privacy password feature designed to protect access to private content and functions such as App Lock, App Hiding, Private Safe, and Phone Migration. This dedicated password adds an extra layer of security beyond your standard screen lock. If you forget the privacy password, OPPO provides several reset options based on the recovery information you’ve set up, such as security questions, email, or your OPPO ID. This guide explains how the privacy password works and outlines the available recovery methods.
What Is the Privacy Password
The privacy password is a dedicated passcode used to protect personal content and features, including:
App Encryption (App Lock)
App Hiding
Private Safe / Private Vault
Phone Migration
Once set, this password is required for authentication across all supported privacy functions.
How to Reset Your Privacy Password
If you’ve forgotten your privacy password, you can reset it from the password input screen (only if you did not set up fingerprint or face unlock for privacy features):
Go to any privacy feature screen where the password is required.
Enter the wrong password once.
Tap [Forgot Password] to view the reset options.
You’ll be prompted to reset using one of the following methods:
Security Questions: Answer the security questions you set up previously to verify your identity and reset your password.
Security Email: Enter your full backup email address and submit the verification code sent to that email.
OPPO ID: Log in using your OPPO ID credentials and follow the on-screen instructions to reset your password.
If You Can’t Reset Your Privacy Password
If you’ve forgotten all associated reset information—such as your security questions, backup email, or OPPO account—you will not be able to reset the privacy password through the device.
Back up important data on your phone.
Perform a factory reset to clear the privacy password.
If you’re unable to access factory reset settings or need help, please contact the OPPO Support team or visit your nearest OPPO Service Center for assistance.
