Join Beta Program of Apps in Google Play Store

Google Play Store is a popular platform where you can download millions of applications. These applications generally come in stable versions. However, there is also a beta version of applications available on the store. Beta versions are more experimental versions of apps that have already been released. They offer new features that are not yet available in the public version. For example, if you use the beta version of WhatsApp, you can access new features and functions that are not available in the public version. How to join the beta program

Note: Make sure that To get the beta version of an app, the app must already be installed on your device.


  1. Not all application has their beta version available. To check if an app has a beta version available or not, open [Google Play Store] and then search for the desired app. For example, WhatsApp, Google, Facebook, &, etc. You can also tap the profile icon > tap [Manage apps and devices] > then tap [Installed]. Tap an app to open the app details.

  2. Scroll down and check if the "Join the beta" program section is available. If yes, tap [Join] to join its beta program. If not, then it means that the developer has not released a beta version of their application yet.

  3. Upon joining, please wait for a few minutes to get an app update.


Note: The Beta version of an application may be less stable and have bugs.


How to leave the beta program

Please note that your saved data and settings made in the app may be lost after leaving the beta program and uninstalling the app.

  1. Open [Google Play Store].

  2. Search for the application you want to leave the beta program for.

  3. Tap the app to view its details.

  4. Scroll down till you find the beta program section. Tap [Leave] under "You're a beta tester" > [Leave].


Note: If you opt out of the beta program, your space opens up and could be assigned to someone else. It is not guaranteed you'll get the space in the beta program back later.


How to use the stable version

The stable version is also known as the public version. Follow the below steps to learn how to use the public version of an app after joining the beta program.

  1. Uninstall the application which is in the beta version. Make sure you have opted out of the beta program.

  2. Reinstall the application from the Google Play Store.
