How to Use Smart Lock in ColorOS
Smart Lock by Google is a handy feature to unlock your device smartly even without entering your lock screen passcode. You can also keep your device unlocked in some situations, such as when your phone is connected to a trusted Bluetooth device such as your Smartwatch, Car's Bluetooth System, etc. will remain unlocked in trusted places. Follow the article below to learn more about the smart lock.
Applicable to: ColorOS 11 and above. Check your ColorOS version in [Settings] > [About Phone/About Device].
How to Enable Smart Lock
Make sure that you have enabled the lock screen passcode. Go to [Settings] > [Password and security /Fingerprint, Face and Password] > [Set Lock screen Password] > [Continue] > Enter and verify your lock screen passcode.
For ColorOS 12 and above:
Go to [Settings] > [Password and Security] > [System security] > [Smart Lock]. You will be shown the available smart lock methods.
For ColorOS 11:
Go to [Settings] > [Security] > [Smart Lock]. You will be shown the available smart lock methods. Find the details below about the different smart lock methods.
Trusted places
Trusted places require your phone's location to be turned on. You can enable the location by going to [Settings] > [Location] > Enable [Location]. You can add trusted locations so that your device will never be put on a lock screen or require a password. As the name suggests, only choose trusted locations such as your home. Please note that your trusted location can go beyond the walls of your home. The radius in which your phone will remain unlocked is up to 80 meters.
How to Add Trusted Places:
For ColorOS 12 and above: Go to [Settings] > [Password and Security] > [System security] > [Smart Lock] > [Trusted Places] > [Add trusted place].
For ColorOS 11: Go to [Settings] > [Security] > [Smart Lock] > [Trusted Places] > [Add trusted place] > Select the location by dragging the marker.
Note: Someone with access to specialized equipment could unlock your phone by manipulating the location signals.
How to Add Trusted devices
The trusted device requires your phone's Bluetooth to be turned on and connected to a trusted Bluetooth device.
For ColorOS 12 and above Go to [Settings] > [Password and Security] > [System security] > [Smart Lock] > [Trusted Device] > [Add a trusted device]
For ColorOS 11: Go to [Settings] > [Security] > [Smart Lock] > [Trusted Devices] >[Add Trusted Device] > Select a device from the list.
Note: Bluetooth connections have a range of up to 100 meters.
On-body detection
Your device will remain unlocked as long as it senses that your device is with you, it learns the pattern of your walk, and movement to keep the device unlocked. Your device will automatically lock itself if your phone is set down or not in motion for over a minute. Go to [Settings] > [Security] > [Smart Lock] > Enable [On-body detection].
