How to Turn On Airplane Mode on OPPO Phones
Airplane mode is a setting on your OPPO phone that removes its wireless communication abilities, theoretically making it approved for use on aircraft or where wireless functions are forbidden. Understanding how this function works and how to enable this helps you manage your device easily.
Note: Available for ColorOS 5.0 and above devices. Check your phone's ColorOS version in [Settings] > [About Phone] / [About Device].
Steps to Turn On Airplane Mode on Your OPPO Phone
There are two ways to turn on/off the Airplane mode on your OPPO phone.
Method 1:
Go to [Settings] > [Airplane Mode] and tap the slider to turn it on. In some OPPO devices, go to [Settings] > [Connection & sharing] and toggle [Airplane mode] to turn on/off.
Method 2:
Swipe down from the top of your screen to open Control Center, then tap on the [ Airplane Mode] icon. If you can't see the Airplane mode icon, check How to Rearrange Control Center Icons.
If you use navigation gestures, swipe up from the left bottom of the screen. Notice that the operator information in the upper left will be replaced with an airplane icon. While in airplane mode, you cannot make or receive phone calls or text messages.
What Happens When You Turn On Airplane Mode
Once you enable the Airplane Mode on your OPPO phone, all wireless communication features are TEMPORARILY turned off. This includes the following functions:
Mobile Network: You will not be able to make calls, send or receive text messages, or access mobile data since your device will lose its cellular connection, which is required for transmitting SMS.
Wi-Fi: Once Airplane Mode is activated, your Wi-Fi connection will automatically disable; however, you can manually reactivate it.
Bluetooth: Similar to Wi-Fi, Bluetooth connections for your wireless accessories will also turn off, but you can manually enable them again.
Although some functions are temporarily turned off, you can still use your OPPO phone for offline activities, including playing downloaded music, movies, and other media.
What to Do if You Can't Enable Airplane Mode
Restart your OPPO phone and test again. Press and hold the Power and Volume Up buttons for at least 8 to 10 seconds or until the OPPO logo appears.
Go to [Settings] > [Software Update] / [System Update] / [About Device], then update your phone system to the latest software version.
Notes:
When Airplane Mode is on, your phone's wireless functions, such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Mobile data, will be defaulted off. But you can still turn on and use Wi-Fi and Bluetooth if the airline allows it.
If you are abroad without a local SIM card, you can turn on Airplane Mode temporarily to avoid unnecessary roaming costs.
