How to Fix One Side of Wired Earphone has an Abnormal Sound
Are you hearing a weird buzzing sound in only one of your earpieces and can't seem to fix the issue? Over time, earphones can wear out from over-usage, physical or liquid damage, and many other factors. However, if you think that it could be a setting issue or software issue, here is a simple guide you can try to troubleshoot this issue. Read on!
Applicable to: All wired earphones used with OPPO smartphones.
Fix your earphones if the other side's sound is abnormal
Make sure the earphone is fit for your phone
Some third-party earphones may not be supported on your OPPO phone.
Make sure that your wired earphone is firmly attached to the OPPO phone
Remove casing if it seems to block the headphone jack.
Check the volume
For ColorOS 5.0 and above: Go to [Settings] > [Sound and Vibration], and under VOLUMES > choose [Media] and set it to the maximum volume.
For ColorOS 2.1 to 3.2: Go to [Settings] > [Sound] > [Volumes] > [Music, video, games & other media] to set the volume at maximum.
* If your headphone has a separate volume control, kindly adjust from there.
Try playing audio from different apps, media channels, and sources
If the headset play normally, then the source of the audio is the one causing the issue.
Check for obstructions and damage
Check for obstructions on the meshes in each earbud. To remove obstructions, gently brush all openings with a clean soft-bristled brush.
Check for obstructions on or in the headset jack. To remove obstructions, dip a Q-tip in some rubbing alcohol, then slowly and gently ease the tip into the headphone jack and brush off all sides of the jack.
Check your phone's headset jack for damage, like wear or breakage.
Test and detect problems
You can test your headphones using the Common Problem/ Routine test or Diagnostics. See How to Detect/Calibrate Audio (Speaker, Receiver, Microphone and Unplug and Plug in Headset) on OPPO Phone?
Note: This step is only available for ColorOS 3.2 and above devices.
Restart your device
Press and hold the Power and Volume Up buttons for at least 8 seconds or until the OPPO logo appears.
Check if your phone has an available update.
Go to [Settings] > [Software update] / [System update].
Test your headphones on another device
Test a different set of headphones on your OPPO device and check if it works.
If the above steps did not resolve the issue, kindly contact OPPO Support Team, or take your phone and earphones, proof of purchase, and warranty card to a nearby OPPO Customer Service Center.
