How to Change Language on OPPO Phone

Changing the system language or region on your OPPO phone is helpful if you’re traveling, relocating, or simply prefer using your device in a different language. OPPO smartphones running on ColorOS offer flexible options for customizing these settings through a few easy steps in the Settings menu. In this guide, we’ll show you how to set your preferred language based on the ColorOS version your device is running.


Note: Check your phone's ColorOS version in [Settings] > [About Phone] / [About Device].


Why Change the Language and Region

Updating the language and region settings helps:

  • Display system menus and app interfaces in your preferred language

How to Set Your Phone's Language and Region

Modify the language and region settings on your OPPO phone according to the version of ColorOS you have.

Note: When you turn on and set up your OPPO phone for the first time, you can select the language and region when prompted.


For ColorOS 14.1 to ColorOS 15

  1. Go to [Settings].

  2. Tap [System & update] > [Language & region].

  3. Tap [Edit], then add the language you want to use.

  4. Choose [Set as default] or [Keep current].


For ColorOS 14.0

  1. Open [Settings] > [Additional Settings] > [Language].

  2. Tap [Manage Languages] > Add the desired language.

  3. Select [Set as Default] or [Keep Current].


For ColorOS 12 to 13

  1. Go to [Settings] > [System Settings] > [Language].

  2. Tap [Add a language].

  3. Select your language and choose [Set as Default] or [Keep Current].

For ColorOS 11 to 11.3

1. Go to [Settings] > [Other Settings] > [Language].

2. After adding a language, long press the one you want to use.

3. Drag it to the top to make it default.

4. A prompt will appear: “Are you sure you want to change the system language?” Tap [Change Language].

If required, enter your lock screen password to apply the change.

Note: Some devices may not ask for a password after the latest patch update.


What if the Language and Region Can't Be Changed

  1. Restart your OPPO phone. Press and hold the Power button and the Volume Up button for at least 8 seconds or until you see the OPPO logo.

  3. Back up your data first, then reset your OPPO phone to factory settings.
