How to Change Default Opening Link App
Have you ever received a link and every time you try to open it, it redirects you to your phone's default browser? What if you'd rather open that link in its supported app? For instance, when you tap a YouTube link, wouldn't it be better to watch the video in the YouTube app instead of the browser? Read the article below to learn on how to set a default app to open supported links on ColorOS smartphones. This will help you choose whether you want to open supported links in the app itself or in the default browser.
Applicable to: ColorOS 5.2 and above. Check your ColorOS version in [Settings] > [AboutPhone]/[About Device].
Change Link Opening Settings
For ColorOS 12 and above:
Go to [Settings] and tap [Apps].
Tap [Default Apps] then tap [Opening Links].
Select the app > Enable [Open supported links].
For ColorOS 11 to ColorOS 7
Go to [Settings] and tap [App Management].
Tap [App List] and select the app. To select a system app, tap 2 dots and then [Show System].
Select the app and tap [Open by default].
Tap [Open Supported Links] > [Open in this app] to open the supported link in the app itself. Tap [Do not open in this app] to open the link in the default browser.
For ColorOS 6.0 to ColorOS 5.2
Go to [Settings] and tap [App management].
Select the app and tap [Open by default].
Tap [Open Supported Links] and select [Open in this app] to open the supported link in the app itself. Tap [Do not open in this app] to open the link in the default browser.
Note: Tap [Supported links] to see the type of links that can be opened by default.
