Is your phone overheating while charging? This issue can drain your battery faster and affect your phone's performance. In this guide, we will discuss why your phone may be getting too warm while charging and provide some tips to help you resolve this issue.

Warning

Although it's typical for phones to warm up when charging, it's essential to ensure that the interior temperature doesn't exceed the safe operating range. Overheating can damage the device's electronic components and pose a fire or electric shock hazard, leading to severe injury. It's crucial to stop charging your phone if you notice it is getting too hot to prevent any potential risks.

If your OPPO phone gets too warm when charging

Mismatched chargers, higher ambient-temperature conditions, and incorrect activities might cause the above issue. Check the following steps:

Using standard chargers

  • Make sure to use OPPO original power accessories (power adapter and USB cable) that are compatible with your phone.

  • Check your power adapter and USB cable for signs of damage; if there are, stop using the damaged ones and buy new ones in time, or try other accessories on your phone and see if you have fixed the issue.

  • Do not charge your phone with third-party accessories, for your phone and its firmware might be damaged because of the different specifications.

  • If you are abroad, charge your phone with a plug adapter for the country.

Charging at a suitable temperature

Charge your phone at a suitable temperature, with 16° C to 40° C as the ideal comfort zone. Low- or high-temperature conditions might cause your phone to change its charging behavior.

  • Do not leave your phone in pockets or enclosed spaces when charging.

  • Remove the phone case if there is one, which might result in poor heat dissipation.

  • If you plan to store the phone long-term, store it in dry places and charge it periodically.

Check the jack and phone's charging port

  • Ensure your phone, charging cable, and jack are plugged in firmly.

  • Remove any debris from the charging port on the bottom of your device. If the charging port is seriously worn or corroded, stop charging to avoid leakage, short circuit, or other unexpected faults, and send the phone to repair immediately.

Phone Charging

Do not use it when charging

  • The phone will quickly get warm if you play games, watch videos, or make a video or phone calls while charging.

  • To prevent your phone from overheating, you can turn off your phone or close all apps running in the background.
