How to Unsync Photos Between Google and System Photos

Google Photos automatically syncs with your OPPO phone’s System Photos to back up and secure your images. While this feature helps protect your data and allows for easy access across devices, you may prefer to disable photo syncing for privacy or storage reasons. Here’s how you can unsync photos between Google Photos and System Photos on your OPPO device.

Why Disable Google Photos Sync

Syncing between Google Photos and System Photos ensures that your images are backed up to the cloud, making them accessible on multiple devices. However, turning off this feature may be useful in cases where:

  • You want to free up cloud storage space.

  • You prefer local storage rather than cloud backup.

  • You want to stop automatic uploads to Google Photos for privacy.

How to Turn Off Google Photos Sync on OPPO Phones

  1. Open the [Google Photos] app on your OPPO phone.

  2. Tap on your [Avatar/Profile] Icon in the top right corner.

  3. Go to [Photos Settings].

  4. Select [Privacy] > [Google Photos Access].

  5. Tap on [Photos] and select [Remove Access].

  6. Confirm the removal of access.

Once done, your OPPO phone’s System Photos app will no longer sync images with Google Photos.

How to Re-Enable Google Photos Sync

If you decide to turn on photo syncing again, follow these steps:

  1. Open the [Photos] app.

  2. Tap on the 2210412  icon in the upper right corner

  3. Go to [Settings].

  4. Tap on [Cloud Sync for Photos]/[Back up to Google Photos].

  5. Toggle the switch [ON] to enable Google Photos sync.

Notes

  • By unsyncing Google Photos from System Photos, you regain control over your storage and privacy. If needed, you can always re-enable syncing in just a few steps. This gives you flexibility in managing how your photos are stored and accessed across your OPPO device and Google Cloud.

  • Images, settings, and paths may vary based on your OPPO phone model and ColorOS version.
