How to Detect/Calibrate Camera and Flash on OPPO Phone
Your smartphone’s camera and flash are essential features that enhance your digital experience by capturing moments and providing necessary illumination. If you suspect any issues with your OPPO phone’s camera and flash, this guide will help you troubleshoot and ensure their proper functionality. Follow the steps outlined below to diagnose and resolve common problems with your camera and flash, so you can continue to enjoy their full benefits.
Force close the Camera app
If the screen shows black, force exits the [Camera] app. Tap the Multi-task or Recent Task key, find the [Camera] app, and swipe up to close it.
Check and close if another active app is using the camera
The camera can only be accessed by one app at a time. Close the app that is using the camera and try again. Tap the Multi-task or Recent Task key, find the [Camera] app, and swipe up to close it.
Force restart the phone
Press and hold the Power and Volume Up buttons for more than 8 seconds to restart your device or until you see the OPPO logo.
Clear cache and data of the camera app
For ColorOS 12 and above: Go to [Settings] > [Apps] > [App management] > [Camera] > [Storage Usage] > [Clear Data] > [Clear Cache].
For ColorOS 7.0 to ColorOS 11.3: Go to [Settings] > [App Management] > [App List] > [Camera] > [Storage Usage] > [Clear Data] > [Clear Cache].
Note: If the [Camera] app is not showing, on the [App list], tap on the two-dot menu on the upper right, then tap on [Show system].For ColorOS 5.0 to ColorOS 6.1: Go to [Settings] > [App Management] > [Camera] > [Storage Usage] > [Clear Data] > [Clear Cache].
For ColorOS 3.1 and ColorOS 3.2: Go to [Settings] > [App Management] > [All] > [Phone] > [Clear Data] > [Clear Cache].
For ColorOS 3.0: Go to [Settings] > [Additional Settings] > [Application Management] > [All] > [Phone] > [Clear Data] > [Clear Cache].
Allow permission for third-party camera apps to use the camera
If the camera doesn't open in a third-party app, allow the app to access the camera.
For ColorOS 7.0 and above: Press and hold the third-party app icon > [App Info] > [Permissions] > [Camera] > [Allow] / [Allow only while using the app].
For ColorOS 5.0 to ColorOS 6.1: Press and hold the third-party app icon > [App Info] > [Permissions] > toggle on [Camera].
For ColorOS 5.0 to ColorOS 6.1: Press and hold the third-party app icon > [App Info] > [Permissions] > toggle on [Camera].
For ColorOS 3.1 and ColorOS 3.2: Go to [Settings] > [App Management] > [All] > third-party app > [Permissions] > toggle on [Camera].
For ColorOS 3.0: Go to [Settings] > [Additional Settings] > [Application Management] > [All] > third-party app > [Permission Monitor] > toggle on [Camera].
Perform Component Check/ Common Problems Detection
Note: This option is only available for ColorOS 3.2 and above devices.
For ColorOS 12 and above: Go to [Phone Manager] > [Tools] > [Diagnostics] > select [Camera] > [Run diagnostics] > [Allow] > follow the on-screen instructions to check if your camera works properly. If results show abnormal, contact the OPPO Support Team for assistance.
For ColorOS 11: Go to [Phone Manager] > [Diagnostics] > [Continue]. Select [Camera] and disable other components. Tap [Run diagnostics] and follow the on-screen instructions to check if your camera works properly. If detection results show abnormal, contact the OPPO Support Team for assistance.
For ColorOS 6.1 to 7.2: Go to [Phone Manager] > [Quick Check] > [Start Check] / [Continue]. Select [Camera] and disable other components. Tap [Check] / [Run diagnostics] and follow the on-screen instructions to check if your camera works properly. If detection results show abnormal, contact the OPPO Support Team for assistance.
For ColorOS 6.0: Go to [Phone Manager] > [Component Check] > [Run Test]. Select [Camera] and disable other components. Tap [Start Detection] and follow the on-screen instructions to check if your camera works properly. If detection results show abnormal, contact the OPPO Support Team for assistance.
For ColorOS 5.0 to ColorOS 5.2: Go to [Phone Manager] > [Diagnostics] > [Run Test]. Select [Camera] and disable other components. OPPO phone camera problem
If the camera app in your OPPO phone won’t open, crashes, or shows a black screen, or you get an error message saying that the camera has stopped working, do the following:
Force close the Camera app

For ColorOS 3.2: Go to [Phone Manager] > [Common Problems Detection] > [Detect Now]. Select [Camera] and disable other components. Update third-party camera apps
Check for an available update for the third-party camera apps you installed. Open the [Google Play Store] or [App Market] on your phone and check for updates. Apps with available updates are labeled "Update."
Uninstall third-party camera apps
Check if the issue is only happening after installing a specific application and uninstall the app.
Update the phone software
Go to [Settings] > [Software update] / [System update] / [About device] and update your phone to the latest software version.

Reset the phone system settings

Note: This option is available with devices ColorOS 3.2 and above. In addition to this, this option will reset all system settings without deleting any data or media files.
Perform a factory reset on the device
