Managing multiple accounts on the same app can be difficult, especially when switching between personal and work profiles. OPPO’s Clone Phone feature offers a practical solution by allowing you to duplicate supported apps like WhatsApp and Facebook, so you can use two accounts on the same device. In this article, we’ll walk you through how app cloning works, how to set it up, and what to expect when using this helpful feature.

Note: Check your ColorOS version in [Settings] > [About Phone] / [About device].

What is Clone Apps/App Cloner

Clone Apps (also known as App Cloner) is a feature that lets you duplicate certain supported apps on your OPPO device. This is useful if you want to use two separate accounts—such as personal and work—on the same app without logging in and out repeatedly. Once enabled, a second copy of the app will appear on your home screen with a distinct icon. Both the original and cloned versions can run independently at the same time, and your activity on one will not affect the other.

Clone Apps allows the cloning of up to 2 different apps simultaneously.

Which apps can be cloned

Not all apps are available for cloning. WeChat, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, Line, and Clash of Clans are some of the supported applications for app cloning. You can see the list of supported apps of the OPPO Clone Phone app:

  • For ColorOS 12 and above: [Settings] > [Apps] > [App cloner] > [Apps that can be cloned].

  • For ColorOS 11 to 11.3: [Settings] > [App management] > [App cloner] > [Apps that can be cloned].

  • For ColorOS 7 and below: [Settings] > [Clone Apps] / [App Cloner] > [Apps that can be Cloned].

Note: Some OPPO smartphones might not have the [Apps that can be cloned] option. In addition to this, the Cloned app will be uninstalled if the main application is uninstalled. The Cloned app data cannot be backed up or transferred to another device.

Clone apps incompatible with the phone

Applications cloned through the Clone Phone app may not launch due to Android version incompatibility issues or because some work software or applications downloaded from third-party channels are not compatible with the latest Android version. We recommend you give feedback to the application developer from the download channel of the corresponding application.

If you are unable to clone apps

  • Check if you have cloned 2 apps. App cloner can only open up to 2 apps at the same time. If you have already cloned 2 apps, turn off one of the apps and try to turn on the clone for another app.

  • Restart the phone. Press and hold the Power and Volume Up buttons for at least 8 seconds or until you see the OPPO logo.

  • Check for an update on your phone's software to the latest version. Check if your OPPO phone has the latest software version on this link.

  • Turn off existing clone apps and turn them on again.

  • If you're using a ColorOS 7.0 and above device with a multi-user account, ensure you are currently using the main admin account, not a sub-user or the guest account. Only the admin can see the Clone apps or App Cloner function in Settings.

  • Check your phone's remaining storage. When the phone memory is less than 5%, creating multiple users is not allowed; hence, you cannot create a clone. This is by design for Android devices.

If the abovementioned steps do not fix your concern, prepare your warranty card and contact your nearest OPPO Customer Service. You can also contact OPPO Support so we can help and assist you further with your concern.

Note: OPPO's Clone Phone application only works if both the app and the device support it. If a cloned application doesn't work, the function or operation is not supported.
